Collaborative EMDR
How It Works
In this team approach, the client gives both therapists authorization to work together to design a personalized treatment plan for the client. Whether the client continues to see the primary therapy and the EMDR Therapist at the same time or takes a brief pause, the goal is to address the specific trauma-related concerns intensively. After the agreed-upon Collaborative EMDR Therapy timeframe, the client seamlessly transitions back to working exclusively with you, the primary therapist.
Benefits Of Collaborative EMDR
The most important part of Adjunct EMDR Therapy is that a treatment team is created with the shared goal to help the client move forward in their treatment. Each Therapist brings to the table their different strengths and specialties. While I specialize in trauma, depression and anxiety, there may be other areas like substance abuse or OCD where additional expertise is beneficial. At Follow Your Arrow Counseling, LLC, I believe that serving our clients better is achieved together through working side by side and sharing expertise.
By working together, both Therapists can help the client move forward with issues that had been keeping them stuck and frustrated.
Let's welcome this collaborative approach so our clients can get back to living their best lives.
Therapy can be complex. One day you're making great progress with your client and then out of the blue, BOOM! They're stuck, you’re stuck and nothing seems to be helping.
Or maybe they have an underlying issue that just isn’t your jam. You feel pretty confident and competent with the other stuff, but this one piece….eh, not so much.
It's not you.
You've built a strong connection with your client, but they continue to experience persistent trauma symptoms – flashbacks, nightmares, intrusive thoughts, and negative self-beliefs.
It's a delicate situation, and you might be contemplating whether to refer them out or continue doing your best, even if it feels a bit beyond your expertise.
At Follow Your Arrow Counseling, LLC, I believe you shouldn't have to choose – there's a solution that allows you to offer both so your client can feel better and you can continue to rock your modalities.
