Being a Therapist and a Mom is fucking hard.

Being a mom is hard. Being a therapist is hard, too. But, being both can sometimes be a fucking nightmare.
Even though you love your kids and your work, sometimes you need a break. It feels like someone is always needing you at every freaking turn. You just want some time to rest or sleep or watch trash TV.
You want to be able to connect with other people and know that they get it - like really get it. People who understand what it's like to be out touched, out of energy, and totally tapped out of nurturing others. You want to feel some relief from the day in and day out caring for other people, fixing their problems, and being the reliable one in their lives.
As if it wasn’t hard enough, the last few years have made it even harder. In fact, you feel like you’ve been through hell and back. When the pandemic chaos hit - it didn’t just require you to step up professionally at a time when your clients needed you the most, it also showed up in your own home. For the first time, maybe ever, you were dealing with the exact same situation as your clients - at the exact same time.
And, whether or not everyone realized it - that was an absolute shitshow.
The roller coaster has started to slow down (maybe?) and you’re just now able to surface for air and assess the damage. It has really been hitting you how lonely and exhausted you have been during all of this. You’re craving connection but somehow in-person anything has just become a thing of the past.
You’re tired of being glued to your computer screen for nearly every business interaction, and if you have to attend one more damn virtual happy hour, you may scream. It’s just not the same.
You. NEED. More.
Your soul yearns for community with others who get it.
You need to be in the presence of other moms, other therapists, other women who know how you feel without explanation. You want to feel connected, nourished, and recharged. You want to really know you’re not alone in this rat race.
Getting away sounds heavenly. You find yourself daydreaming about a weekend away from everything: work, home, all of it.
Just to be somewhere else for a while, to do what you want to do feels selfish and damn near impossible. But your attention is drawn back to the picture of the girl’s trip in your mind and you feel yourself literally relax.
Then you’re snapped back to reality and you remember what a chore it is to plan and manage everyone’s schedule to make a getaway happen. It's too much to add to your already overflowing plate of responsibilities.
Imagine that problem being solved.
Imagine walking into a weekend customized for you, with everything your soul needs already prepared (and you didn’t have to lift a finger). We’re talking about every need anticipated - from the company to the excursions to the snacks. Basically, an all-inclusive weekend that checks *all* the boxes.
Imagine having a specially curated community experience in a luxurious space that is centered on filling your cup and giving you space and time to bond with other therapist moms; to relax in a way that your mind and body deserve.

Meet Your Hostess with the Mostest

MacKenzie Bradke, LCSW
(Badass) Therapist and entrepreneur
Hi! I’m MacKenzie, the owner of Follow Your Arrow Counseling (dba Bradke Counseling, LLC) and Middle Path Wellness Collective in St. Charles, Missouri.
As a mom and therapist myself, I am passionate about creating the most indulgent and customized event made just for therapist moms to feel pampered, rested, and supported in the company of other women just like them.
The desire to create this type of retreat came from my own search for community and people who understood the struggles of being a mom and therapist. As much as people in my personal life try to understand, let’s be honest, they just can’t. So I put on my big girl panties and I put myself out there, in search of those who do understand.
I started setting up coffee dates with other clinicians and felt I was always in fangirl mode when we parted. It was exhilarating and refreshing! It was like I met a celeb and they were a real person with real thoughts (no offense to celebs). The best part was we didn’t have to explain anything to each other, we just knew what the other was dealing with at home and the office. Such a powerful connection was made with each of these women I met with!
So I kept reaching out and scheduling these meetups. Eventually, I joined forces with a few therapists and we started a monthly networking group. The community and connection I was finding was contagious!
From there, I built Middle Path Wellness Collective, a boutique-like collective for other therapists to also find the connection and support they’ve been looking for, while serving their clients and learning to be entrepreneurs themselves.
All of these endeavors help bring me the community I’ve been missing so much the last couple of years.
I want this feeling of deep connection for you, too.
I want you to have people who are in your corner, cheering for you, too. I want you to be able to experience the freedom of leaving your family to their own devices because Mommy is going to go refill her cup of joy with other grownups. Minus the guilt and anxiety.
And since nurturing others is my superpower and we all need time away to relax, Therapist Mom Retreats was born. It combines my passions for caring for others, building connections, travel, good food and wine.
A little about our venue: Hermann, Missouri
Voted a Best of the Midwest destination by AAA members

Tucked away in the Missouri River Valley, about an hour west of St. Louis, Hermann is a storybook village where clock towers and steeples rise above tidy brick cottages. When church bells toll, the imagination drifts easily from the banks of the Muddy Missouri to the Rhine.
Today tourism is Hermann’s number-one industry. The town’s natural beauty and Old-World charm attract visitors in search of the quiet pleasures of an earlier era. Numerous wineries in and around Hermann offer tasting and tours, and much of downtown is a historic district where restaurants, shops, galleries and museums have given 19th-century buildings a new lease on life.
This retreat will be nothing short of amazing.
Here's the level of luxury you can expect:
-
Catered meals by local, family-owned businesses, with personalized snacks and drinks
-
Welcome dinner at Tin Mill Restaurant with a full menu and cocktails
-
A relaxing 60 minute massage by expert massage therapist April, owner of local business Massage For Your Health
-
Private transportation to/from winery excursions, featuring an Elevated Tasting at Adam Puchta Winery (includes a farm-to-table charcuterie board that will enhance the flavors of the wine)
-
Start each morning of the retreat with a customized yoga class lead by Certified Yoga Instructor, Kate, focusing on breath work, stretching and creative movement
-
Plenty of time for your own reflection/solitude and/or hanging out with others - whatever your heart desires
Here's the best news: This trip is tax deductible.
We will be collaborating with each other on many levels that will benefit our businesses, which makes the cost of this retreat a tax write-off for your business (confirmed with a federally licensed tax practitioner)!
Your heart says this retreat is what you desperately need, but the Mommy guilt is strong.
I get it! As a therapist, mother, partner, and the juggler-of-all-the-things, it can be hard to justify taking a whole weekend away to focus on your needs.
I created this retreat experience to help exhausted therapists receive the kind of care and emotional nourishment that they deserve. In order to be the best version of yourself and show up for the people in your life, it’s important to put your own oxygen mask on, and this retreat will do just that. You’ll be surrounded by an intimate group of other therapist moms who understand what it’s like having to balance it all, and you’ll leave feeling rejuvenated, energized, and relaxed.
This retreat is right for you if…
-
You’re burned the fuck out and you need a break from... everything.
-
You want to expand your community of other therapist moms who get you on a deeper level.
-
You’re a fun gal and kinda sassy. You’re ready to reconnect with that side of you and have some fun! (And you like wine.)
-
You’re looking for an all-inclusive trip that won’t break the bank or require you to fly.
-
You curse like a sailor and/or aren’t offended by others doing so. It’s just word confetti afterall.
-
You’re willing to offer an anonymous, survey of the weekend after you’ve returned home.
What this retreat won't be...
-
Work. On any level.
Nope. No thanks. That’s a whole other retreat.
I mean, yes, we will talk about work because that’s what we do (and we want it to be tax deductible). But it won’t be us working on our Intake procedures or sprucing up our websites or consulting about clients. Better to leave your laptops or tablets at home, they need to recharge, too.
-
Aside from any emergencies, you are not available. You simply can’t be relaxing and keeping tabs on things back at home. We have people in our lives who are more than capable of holding down the fort while we are taking care of our own needs.
The purpose of this retreat is for you to truly get away. By all means, get the update on the soccer game and give goodnight smooches, but then allow yourself the opportunity to decompress from all of the stressors that you deal with every other day.
-
Lastly, it won’t be work for you to get here, have fun and relax. I’ve taken care of every detail. Just for you. If you have any special needs or preferences, please let me know about that during our short call.

Lingering questions? I've got answers.
-
I really don’t have to do anything?!
You got it! Absolutely nothing. You truly want everything on this retreat to be covered, from your bed to your yoga stretch! You don’t need to worry about anything this weekend other than reserving your room and having fun. If you have a need, just ask!
-
What’s on the menu?
We are not focusing on our diet or watching our calories this weekend. No ma’am. We’re focused on having fun and nourishing our bodies and souls.
Since we’ll need to do some carb loading to get us fueled up for Saturday’s excursions,
Saturday breakfast will include: scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, sausage and fresh fruit.
Saturday evening we’ll be ordering pizza and salad from a family-owned restaurant in Hermann. (Their pizza is really good.) We can decide if we want to go to the pizza restaurant or eat in.
Sunday’s closing breakfast will include donuts, bacon, sausage and fruit.
Coffee, juice and water will be available.
Snacks will also be provided at the Manor.
-
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes! If you have any dietary restrictions/allergies, please let me know during our call so we can discuss how to accommodate your needs.
-
What are arrival and departure times?
Check in will be anytime after 1pm on Friday, March 10th. If you’ve scheduled a massage on Friday, they will begin shortly thereafter so we can get through all of them before we go to dinner. Some massages may have to be scheduled on Saturday morning depending on how many are booked.
Departure will be at 11am on Sunday.
Yoga and breakfast will be provided before we leave.
-
What is not included?
The price of the retreat does not include travel expenses or any additional souvenirs or treats you’d like during the retreat. Gratuities for meals, excursions and services are covered.
-
What if I have to cancel after reserving my room?
Things happen! If you need to cancel your reservation, please let me know as soon as possible. I’ll do my best to work with you by reaching out to someone on the waitlist. Full refunds will not be given after January 15, 2023. Canceled reservations after this date may receive a partial credit.
